Ely Winter Festival EWF Logo

Winter is magical in Ely. A blanket of pure white snow on the ground, pines as far as the eye can see, deer, moose, wolves, foxes and other animals making their way through the drifts. Even the air feels different. All of it in an unspoiled wilderness. One of the best ways to celebrate winter is by visiting Ely during the Ely Winter Festival , 10 days in February devoted to celebrating the season. You'll marvel at the amazing snow carvings in the park, take in some great movies at the film festival and ski under a sky filled with stars during the family-friendly candlelight skiing event at Hidden Valley. The Ely ArtWalk transforms our entire town into an art gallery! Stroll through town and window-shop to find more than 400 pieces of art by artists with direct ties to the Ely area.

The International Snow Sculpting Symposium, featuring large snow sculptures carved by professional artists from around the country and around the globe, is one of the premier events during the Ely Winter Festival — not to be missed!

It's all a part of celebrating this magical, snowy season in the Northwoods. Join us!
